2009 Balloon Rally Band Info
Please know that ALL of our rally bands play for FREE! All of your donations and proceeds goes directly to CMN. You can pay it forward by going to see these entertainers at their regular venues and, better yet, hire them for your special event. Be sure to mention this Ballooon Rally site if you do!

The aTOMix

This six-piece combo is sure to please fans and newcomers alike. The Atomix consist of Kevin Stellman on guitar, Frank Stanislaski on guitar, Scott Reaves on bass, Tom Dewitt on guitar and vocals, Connie Tomski on vocals, and the ubiquitous Jack Faville handling the rhythm section. They feature blues, funk, swing, soul, southern rock, redneck jazz, and originals! These guys have played throught the midwest in a myriad of great bands, and the rally is happy to have this mix together for the event!

Backtrax

BackTrax consists of a powerful rhythm section driven by the beat of Al Duerr on the drums and by the sub sounds of Wayne Jellish on the bass. Adding a complimentary keyboard sound and saxophone on top of this rhythmic bottom line is Donnie Keiffer, known for years as one of the premiere country sideman in the upper Midwest. Rounding out the band with mind bending guitar work are Aaron Jellish and Don Kerper.  Jellish is considered by many as one of the top modern rock guitarists in WI.  Jellish is also the lead guitar player for Kramzurk out of Waukesha, WI.  As for Kerper, well the blues is his thing as well as that folk rock sound of the Eagles and CSNY.

Dan Bixby Band

Dan is a published songwriter with Peer-Southern, Hollywood, CA, and has songs released on various artists’ CD’s. He has also been teaching guitar for 20 years. Dan writes and sings most of the band’s songs; which have a nice blend of his days as a hard rocker and his current love for playing the blues. Tracee Deranick has had a passion for music all of her life. Tracee’s main blues influences are Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Lang, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt Todd Snyder has enjoyed many forms of music for most of his life. Todd’s musical influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, BB King, Susan Tedeschi, Brian Seltzer. Check out the band here!

El Donk

"A bio? Really? After 10+ years, what more can be said? We're the least-tattooed band in Madison. We won the MAMA award for Best Artist - Other, back in 200(6?) We try to be professional, which is at odds with our not giving a crap." and so says the Facebook description of this demented Madison band. Prepare for the unexpected and be prepared to be very, very entertained. Don't be afraid to throw these uys some cash - hey, they're coming all the way from Madtown to toy with us here in central Wiscaonsin!

James Jinkerson Jazz in the Morning

Enjoy a early morning breakfast with some smooth jazz, Latin and Blues. James has enjoyed over 20 years of steady gigs ranging from solo work to country, jazz, and blues. James has played with, Cold Shot with Greg Koch, The Shadows, Myron Florian, Boilerhouse Blues, Steel Guitar House band with Joe Wright, Russ Hicks and Joe Savage, various commercial and studio projects for radio and television.  Also joining James for the Rally is Todd Wenzel on tenor saxophone

Kosmic Sounds

Some tasty music in between acts for Saturday's Beer Tent acts, Kosmic Sounds will be sure to entertain, educate and entrall you. Instrumentalist Bob Kosmoski will be sure to get your ears perked and your toes tapping!

The Lizardz

The Lizardz hail from central Wisconsin and have played the CMN Balloon Rally for the last six years. A crowd favorite, this five-piece group plays a wide variety of tasty rock tunes, ranging from BOC to Pink Floyd to the Rolling Stones and everything in between. For the music fan or the dancing fan, the Lizardz are sure to please! Be sure to catch these guys and the new/old sound they're bringing back to the stage. adding punch to the line up of Jeff Gauss on lead guitar, Mark Larson on keyboards, and Milo Plante on rhythm guitar, drummer Tom Clasen and bassist Jamie Bruhn add a thump that'll please old and new fans alike! Check out the full band website at: www.thelizardz.com!

The Pistols at Dawn

Three comrades met to play some music. Set up in a spider-infested basement, they jammed. Drummer, Alex Smith, and guitarist, Alexei Broner, had been working on a song in the style of Dick Dale. Tim brought his Farfisa organ and suggested a bridge and the sound was born.

The Pistols at Dawn provide a sonic assault that will make you dance with tears in your eyes. By infusing catchy dance beats with dramatic flair, they might just knock you off that bar stool and on to the dance floor.

Check 'em out here!

Ron and Lu Music for You

Ron and Lu Music for You has been a Rally staple for several years. They are a real crowd pleaser and play some hot traditional polkas! Ron Mancl is the founder of Ron and Lu Music For You. He has played polka music for over 30 years, and started in the Jolly 8, playing with the band from its start in 1971 to 1990. Lu started playing drums because Ron needed a drummer and Lu was interested in playing polkas but had never played an instrument before, so she decidde to start playing drums and has been playing in the band ever since. Brandon is 23 years old. He has been around polkas all his life and has been playing trumpet for nearly 14 years. For some really great local color and outstanding ethnic tunes, check out these local favorites!

Ska'tTsmen

This fantastic ska and punk band has been kicking around central Wisconsin for several years to the delight of packed and sweaty crowds. If you're new to ska or a die-hard fan, you will love this smashing addition to the rally lineup! Be sure to check 'em out here at their official site!

T.U.G.G.

T.U.G.G. is energy and enthusiasm personified. The Wisconsin based band crunches together the sounds ska, rock, reggae, and hip-hop. This melding of music, while powerful, pales in comparison to the interaction between the band and their fans. The band knows that their creative energy both on and off the stage comes largely from their audience. "Being able to release whatever pent up emotion we have as positive energy through live music, and being able to affect people by doing it is indescribable." Catch all the action at T.U.G.G.'s upcoming new site!
